About West Health
Solely funded by philanthropists Gary and Mary West, West Health is dedicated to pioneering new and smarter technologies, policies and practices to make high-quality healthcare more accessible at a lower cost to all Americans. Our focus is supporting and creating healthcare delivery models that enable seniors to successfully age on their own terms, preserving and protecting their dignity, quality of life and independence. Headquartered in San Diego with an office in Washington, D.C., West Health includes the Gary and Mary West Health Institute, a nonprofit medical research organization and the nonprofit, nonpartisan Gary and Mary West Health Policy Center.
After Gary and Mary West founded West Corporation, a leading provider of technology-driven communications with more than 30,000 employees, they became acutely aware of the pressing need to do something about the rising and unsustainable cost of health care. True patriots with Midwestern values, Gary and Mary were spurred to action so that everyone has the opportunity for prosperity and success.

We’re passionate about creating a healthcare delivery system that provides high-quality, more accessible care at a lower cost. But we can’t do it all on our own, so we’re rallying people to our mission. Together, we have the opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and profoundly improve the lives of the American people for the good of our nation.
Transforming the quality, accessibility and cost of healthcare in the U.S. is such a challenge that, to many, real change may seem impossible. But at West Health, we relish taking on challenges that others might shy away from. Every day, we’re in the trenches with our partners—influential doers—from all corners of healthcare, to bring the best new ideas, processes and technologies to life in a real and actionable way. We sincerely believe change is possible and that we can achieve it.
If we’re going to drive change in such a complex healthcare system, we’ve got to find fresh ways to think. New territories to explore. New ways to get things done, whether it’s about technology, science, workflow, investment, or other areas we haven’t thought of yet. We ask ourselves, what must we do because others won’t? If we’re going to be effective, we cannot be timid in the face of the challenge before us.
Breakthrough ideas can come from anywhere, and we want to learn about them and make them grow. Our willingness to collaborate with like-minded partners makes success possible. And with so much at stake, it’s never been more important to listen, learn, and work together towards our shared mission.
Even the noblest ambition is meaningless unless something’s getting done. Academic discussions alone won’t cut it. We’re already putting our ideas into action, and we eagerly seek every new opportunity to realize our mission. It’s our drive to see things change for the better, to see our mission become a reality that inspires us to keep moving forward.
