What We Do

What We Do

West Health includes the nonprofit and non-partisan Gary and Mary West Health Institute and the Gary and Mary West Health Policy Center. We collaborate with the Gary and Mary West Foundation and all have a singular focus on lowering healthcare costs to enable seniors to successfully age in place.

What We Do

Every day 10,000 people turn 65. In 2012, 13.7% of the population was 65 and older; by 2040, this number will grow to 21%, putting an enormous strain on our healthcare delivery system. We are working to create and foster new integrated care models that improve health outcomes and better address both the medical and non-medical needs of seniors and their families. Our institute, policy center and foundation all work together under the umbrella of West Health, with a shared mission to lower healthcare costs to enable successful aging for our nation’s seniors.

APPLIED MEDICAL RESEARCH

In 2009, Gary and Mary West created the nonpartisan, nonprofit Gary and Mary West Health Institute, which conducts applied medical research to generate the evidence needed for healthcare providers, policymakers and communities to adopt models of care that better serve seniors and their families. The organization is committed to supporting and creating healthcare delivery models that improve care and access while reducing costs for our fast-growing, diverse population of seniors.
